I'm not on a tight budget, but frugal by nature.  One way I have saved money and benefited the environment is by shopping at thrift stores.  I don't need much in the way of clothing since I have been retired for ten years, but there are outdoor activity items I can always use.  I have found some amazingly cheap items at thrift stores - e.g. a Columbia hooded winter jacket for ten bucks.

Thrifts stores also have lots of childrens' clothing if you have the time to browse through it.

The only downside to shopping at them is that you have to spend some time looking through stuff, but I don't mind doing that.

Value Village gives a 30% discount to seniors on Tuesdays, which is another benefit.

Hi.  Thanks for the reply.  You're right.  There are amaziing bargains to be found at thrift stores.  I've been an "addict" for years.  I'd say it's my hobby.

I don't quite qualify for the Value Village discount.  I'm looking forward to that.
