Hi , my name is Dana and I have been trying to be frugal, before frugal was cool!
I am a homeschooling mother and need to make the $$ that my hubby brings home, fit our life's expenses. I am 40, oops, make that 41 and have done alot of trial and error, hit n' miss and mis-informed efforts at frugal living, but the main thing I am in the mood to talk about is Christmas gifting! For the past few years, most of my gifts are homemade. Not everybody can or is willing to do this, but it has helped our family tremendously. Mostly, I knit, but the trick is getting the yarn/wool. I often make small projects, so yarn doesn't have to be plentiful. I usually look in second hand stores for abandoned stashes, I ask friends if they have any unused, unwanted yarn hanging around and freecycle. If I am having a low yarn year, I can get crochet cotton for under $2 and make about 20 crocheted snowflakes!
Then there is the frugality of buying xmas paper for the following year during the week after xmas. Then, there is starting in about April to get gifts made and liquidation bought gifts amassed!
I could go on and on, but I want to read all of your posts!
