Cool  Frugal Family

I homeschool my 10 year old daughter and she has seen over the years, that Christmas gifts have been becoming less and less "plastic".  Of course there are a couple of bought goodies, but always on a good sale or liquidation, say under $20.  But my daughter is getting old enough to really appreciate the effort and finds it special.  Now she wants to wrap gifts as her contribution to the effort, which is OK by me.  Today she asked me if I know any other frugal people, becasue when she talks to most other kids, it is unheard of.
We pride ourselves in being a bit different, but wouldn't it be great to raise a new generation of "frugal = smart" kids, rather than the old generation of "thrifty=poor"?
Any other people out there sharing the frugality???

RE: Frugal Family

I think being frugal teaches your children that material things aren't as important as society likes to think they are!!!
My daughter is almost 3 and when we go to a store, say for clothes, she heads straight to the sale racks!!! At Safeways, she looks for the 'papers sticking out' (sale items) and the coupon dispensers for me!!! She reuses her drawing paper to cover with stickers afterwards!! (My DH thinks this is funny, but I think every little bit helps!!)
