I always thought cloth diapering was more work than it was worth until I started looking into it on the internet to see what other mothers were doing. I just had my 2nd baby and decided to give it a try. I liked the idea of prefold diapers and got a free pattern from the computer and made 30 prefold diapers out of a set of jersey T shirt bedsheets the I wasn't using. In Regina I found a store that sells specialized baby products and bought a snappy(which is used to hold the diaper on instead of diaper pins) and a few diaper covers and we have been happily using cloth diapers for about a month now. Youtube is a wonderful resource for learning how to use or make cloth diapers and the sewing is nothing too hard if you do make your own(I hadn't used a sewing machine since highschool). I have read that 1 baby uses $3,500 worth of diapers from birth to potty training not to mention the waste in the landfill. I also make homemade laundry soap that costs just a few cents/load.
